Hi, I’m Julie, and my passion is for helping people find improved health and wellbeing through Acupuncture. My journey into this field began with a deep foundation in Western Medicine as a Physiotherapist. I am no longer a physiotherapist but have since studied Eastern Medicine, and found that integrating past knowledge, such as anatomy and physiology, together with Eastern knowledge has been a useful way of helping people. I enjoy providing a nurturing and calming experience for all my patients.
From physiotherapy to acupuncture
I graduated from The Acupuncture Academy in 2023 with distinction, completing an intensive three-year program equivalent to a traditional degree. My training covered the full spectrum of Chinese medicine and acupuncture theory culminating with a period of supervised practice. During my training there was a special focus in Five Element Acupuncture although other approaches were also included. My clinical work was highly commended and with this recognition it gave me confidence to open my own practice.
Before discovering Acupuncture, I trained as a Physiotherapist working in both the NHS in London, Nottingham and Birmingham as well as in Toronto in Canada. I specialized in Neurology and the elderly, helping patients regain function and independence following a stroke or a head injury. During this time, I also became interested in complementary therapies such as Shiatsu, Reflexology and Acupuncture. After a career break, I decided to pursue my interest in Eastern Medicine as an Acupuncturist. In this way I was able to blend the two approaches.
A holistic approach to health
My practice isn’t just about needles -it’s about guiding individuals on a path to better health by offering care that is both thoughtful and effective. I aim to create each treatment plan with advice and acupuncture points to help each towards the best version of themselves. Whether you are looking for relief from a specific issue or seeking a more balanced life, I am here to support you every step of the way.

A life grounded in balance and connection
Outside of my practice, I find real benefit from connecting with nature and outdoors-whether it is swimming outside, walking, running, yoga or tending to my garden. When I do spend time in my garden growing things such as fruit and vegetables, I have a renewed amazement and joy for what can be grown from such tiny seeds. This year I have had a great crop of different kinds of tomatoes to sample. As a result of this hobby, I enjoy creatively planning on how to eat varied and seasonal dishes incorporating as many different vegetables as I can. Music is another love of mine, offering a different kind of harmony that complements my work and general wellness too.
Supporting women’s health
My own journey through the various stages of reproductive years and now post menopause has shone a light on how hard these years are for some. I often cancelled engagements last minute due to pain or heavy bleeding or frustratingly timed hormonal migraines. Most months were times to get through rather than thrive. Thankfully I am in a better place now than I have been for years having undergone a hysterectomy. Retrospectively, I later found out I had suffered from Adenomyosis – a kind of Endometriosis, which caused me immense pain throughout my reproductive years.
It was an acupuncturist who had had the time to listen to me and helped me realise I was struggling with my symptoms and maybe I could finally reach a decision to do something about it. She supported me, helped me with my migraines and gave me the confidence to go to my GP and ask for further tests and direct me to a specialist to discuss HRT options. It wasn’t long after my hysterectomy, that I started my degree level training to become an acupuncturist!
I would like to be able to offer women a similar experience to explore a journey using Eastern Medicine with its potential to help through these cycles of important reproductive and non-reproductive years. I understand that everyone’s journey is going to be different but that is what makes life so interesting and unique to you.
Credentials you can trust
I am proud to be 1 of 3,000 members of the largest professional body championing Acupuncture – The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). Interestingly there is no regulation of acupuncture at the present time, so there are huge differences to individuals who practice – varying from weekend courses to degree level training. It is wise to choose from the above register. I am also registered with the Professional Standards Committee otherwise known as the PSA. This is a government body responsible for regulating health and social providers. Additionally, I hold full medical malpractice and public/products liability insurance. My practice, Julie Swift Acupuncture, is licensed with both Solihull and Coventry Councils.
I’d love to welcome you to my practice and help you explore how acupuncture can be a transformative part of your health journey. Whether you’re new to acupuncture or looking to deepen your wellness routine, I’m here to guide you towards a more balanced, fulfilling life.
